First of all, sorry to post in english on the french forums. The problem is the english speaking forums are dead, there's no info or anything anywhere (except what Bart and Nostra come and share). But welcome back! I think you could go and debunk Moomer's post on the Nyarlathotep awakening thread that you're no longer active member of DPG. I would wager there's at least some lurkers on these forums who are pleased to hear SoN range being actively developed.
Even though I'm horribly late for the party, I'll share my 2 cents anyway.
My personal opinion about the format of expansion:
-Even though I find the gazette/CMC format interesting, I find that it adds too little to make an enticing purchase (as only purchase) when you add shipping (to Finland). The mix of fluff and gameplay is nice though and would work well with SoN. The problem being if you don't buy them soon after release, you don't know if you'll ever get them…
-The Shadow Hunter format is better for me personally. I just like when it adds a little bit of everything.. Then again, someone might not buy it because there's something they don't want or want just a certain thing…
So, this might be completely stupid idea… But I was thinking you make a Shadow Hunters-like set, except you try to divide to 3 standalone gazette-type items. Make a P500, pre-order, KS or something similar to know how much to print so you don't end up with too much extra stuff in the warehouse.
Something like this:
-Set 1 (troops); units for 1-2 featured factions +1 scenario.
-Set 2 (terrain overlays); terrain items (houses, piers, possibly neutral units, etc) +1 scenario.
-Set 3 (battlefields); battlefields with 2 scenarios.
The biggest thing would be to make a setup guide for those who don't have all the items ("replace battlefield 3a with core set xx", "replace investigator Bart with Duprez or Ariane", etc).
All would be announced and released simultaneously. If you would get all 3, you'd get a set like Shadow Hunters with fluff, units, terrain overlays, battlefields and 4 scenario mini campaign. If you are a HoN player who wants the battlefield, you could get just that etc.
Random thoughts and wishes:
-I like the idea of a remote fishing village with Deep One (hybrids) and weird shit going on! It's very iconic to the lovecraftian setting.
-Sympathy for the Devil; you wrote: "This is what we have in mind: German Investigators, American King in Yellow worshipers, British sorcerers or a cult of bloodthirsty Russian madmen."
If you would make neutral units (usable in any faction) which tie in to the different themes of the decks, you could add a little more flavor into your HoN-converted army. This could be a simple blister with 6 characters (and if you plan to print the SoN conversion deck after KS, you could bundle it with the characters).
-I hope the scenarios continue to include 'suggested forces' for quick and easy setup and play. You could have the option to have more HoBR inspired setup: "instead of the suggested force, you can take Ariane and Carter +250pts" for those who want to build their force.
-I like the 2-4 player scenarios that have a definite way on how to play 2 player! It's always nice to play 3 players, but it's even nicer if there is a way to play with only 2 if you don't have the 3rd guy/gal.
-I really like the idea that someone suggested: Dreamlands. That's like an endless playground that you can do basically anything in and with Dreamlands gates you can tie it to any terrain type.
-Would love some Shub-Niggurath action 🙂
Great to have you back, I've been wondering about the future of SoN for more than 6 months!
