Bad Moons and Battleground Set print colors
Bad Moons and Battleground Set print colors Posted on [31/07/2021] à 12:46

I have just received my order of the Battleground Set for HoBR as well as the Bad Moons expansion, and the print colours are much paler compared to the HoBR Core Box I own. While Bad Moons look acceptable on the Core Box terrain, the combined terrain looks kind of awful.

I am wondering if this is the same for the whole batch, or did I draw the short straw? It might be that my Core Box is the problem, but then again, all other expansions have matching terrain colours (Drop Pods, Reinforcements, Castellum, etc). Of course, stock images for the products have exactly the same colour as well. I don't know if opening a support ticket is gonna help.

Mine, and a couple of buddies’ copies are exactly the same unfortunately. 😥

Mine don't match and look terrible.

I cannot tell from the pics…are all the icons and terrain elements readable? How about Defense Bonuses?

The overall print quality is okay, icons and terrain elements are readable.

After looking at the tiles in detail, I noticed that the new tiles have a grid of small dots all over them. This applies to every new piece that I received (Sewers, Drop Pods, Battleground Set). The Core Box terrain does not have that. Light sources above the new tiles also reflect off of them, not really the case for the Core Box terrain. Different printer/technology? It's like comparing matte laptop screens to glossy laptop screens.

The worst part is that the colour of the water changes between the two canal tiles in the Battleground Set. They are not even consistently different 🙁

Below is a close-up shot of the tiles, Core Box on the left, Battleground Set on the right:

I don't mind that, for example, the Sewers are printed with the new "glossy" printer since they are a standalone product. However, it does look like the factory messed up for the Battleground Set. We know that DPG received production samples a few months prior to the shipment, weird that they didn't notice or were okay with that (based on the comments, I assume this is a global issue).

I am not faulting any of your very good points, but I am not 100% sure you got this part right.

The post showing MANY of the products with nice pics actually showed the expansion terrain as photos that look like they were emailed from the printer. They are unlike the other stuff in the post that is clear and sharp.

In the latter case you can see not only a good image of the boards, but the product label in the pic. In the first photo there is none of that.

Now, I must admit what exactly constitutes the HoBR portion is not my strong suit, as I am not a huge HoBR player… was the core box reprinted or just some add-on terrain?

Wow. Those look very off.

I agree I might've jumped to a conclusion there. That particular photo you refer to could have easily been taken by the factory staff. The same post features nice pics of the Battleground Set with logos, but we don't really know for sure that those were taken with the actual product as well.

It's the add-on terrain from the HoBR P500. Since there is a chance that DPG is unaware of the issue, I will open a support ticket. At the very least, it might help to avoid that with future products.

Thanks for doing that, and for answering my question.

I have the opposite isdue with the Heroes of Stalingrad/Normandie expansion called "woods&hills"… It is so darkly coloured that is quite difficult to spot icons and color coded "terrain lines" and such… Like the hills' border or the woods one, or the valleys ones…

I flagged with support last week after discovering exactly the same issue with my Battlegrounds set. Apparently its a known issue and they are all the same.

Disappointing.
