It depends on what you mean by "get the most". If you mean get the all new untis, everything since BRO, or all of the new Caen stuff, the answer is different.
If you DON'T have Heroes of Normandie Big Red One, or the original core box, you need one of those to play Caen. I would recommend changing your pledge level during the pledge manager to include the BRO version (Hope and Glory pledge). If you didn't back BRO you may also be interested in the "Bloody Omaha" battle pack.
If you want the new units only (and some are similar to the original UK units) in addition to the "rule Britania" pledge you should add the war stories "Colombelles Castle' and "Juno Beach". Note: "Juno Beach" requires the BRO "Bloody Omaha" battle pack.
Lastly, there are a bunch of add ons that are not strictly necesary to play or don't add as much. You can add the DPG dice, which are cool and funny, and I plan to use them for my SS units, but do not change the game.
The Solo mode which is up to your personal taste. I like that it opens up the ability to play the game as "Coop VS AI".
And then there is storage. There are other threads about DPG storage and what you should buy so I won't go into it here, but you may be interested in buying storage to seperate and organize your units.
